Across the Valley
Here’s a shot I’ve wanted to take for quite a while.
Fascinating time in Grahamstown this past week
…and a treat in store this weekend. President Ramaphosa is comin’ to town. Reminds me of the Christmas jingle.
Monday the 22nd of April 2019
A sombre day. Commemoration of the 200-year anniversary of the Battle of Egazini (Battle of Grahamstown 1819). A pivotal day in our history. A tragic day.
Exciting to bring my work at Rhodes Business School and St Philips Anglican Church together!

There’s a bit of a back story to ‘Cycling by …’.

This Morning’s Mass Clean-up
A quick selection of photos from this morning’s mass clean-up at St Philips as we enjoy our tea break.

Team “A Better St Philips” is looking forward to welcoming a large group of volunteer’s tomorrow morning (Sat 6 April) to clean-up and beautify St Philips Church and grounds. It’ll be a little chilly so dress warmly!

Thanks for the positive feedback on Oatlands Park
The Grahamstown Project is working in partnership with St Philips Anglican Church (Fingo Village) to transform St Philips Church and grounds into a Tourism Site. The church was built in 1860 and has cultural, spiritual and historical significance.
An extraordinary morning in the Oatlands Park
Brimming with activity – 4 chaps exercising, Crosby on his morning litter-prowl, and the local herd feeding the compost. All set in the splendour of the freshly decorated bins standing proud in a clean, lush park.
Progress at Oatlands Park
Thanks to teachers and pupils of College / DSG who are painting the Bins. Undercoat applied, now excited to see their artistic exploits.
Dramatic month in Grahamstown
A water crisis – caused by drought and, worryingly, lack of infrastructure maintenance – resulted in the Sarah Baartman* District Municipality (includes Makana Municipality) being declared a local state of disaster.
Welcome back to The Grahamstown Project
2019 is going to be a cracker. I can feel it in my bones. But I can feel drought in my bones too so be extra-wise with water.
Oatlands Park over the Christmas period
Thank you to Patrick Hale and community-minded local residents for cleaning Oatlands Park and surrounds over the Christmas period.
Despite their efforts the park resembled a dump this morning.
A Big Thank You!
Big thank you to Steven van der Merve (Hyundai Grahamstown) and Peter Heynes (PK Welding) for supplying and installing the new bins at Oatlands Park.
Holiday night sky – Chintsa
With the summer holidays in mind I’m sharing this December night sky.
Bell, Tank and Drostdy
Hiding behind the wall of the Albany Museum is the bell that used to sit on top of the Drostdy Arch.
